Foraminifera from the Kasseler Meeressande
The Kassel Formation, also known as the Kasseler Meeressande, was deposited during the Chattian stage
of the Late Oligocene in a marine gulf located in the area where the modern city of Kassel is situated.
Its rich foraminiferal diversity is characterized by shallow water faunas in a warm, subtropical, near shore ocean setting.
